Aid to Sudan is blocked by RSF soldiers

The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are accused by Sudan’s Foreign Ministry of obstructing several UNICEF trucks transporting relief supplies to El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State.

The trucks were sent to solve the food and health problems in the refugee camps, with a focus on child malnutrition, according to the Ministry, but the RSF halted them. The RSF was charged with blocking relief convoys via the Al-Dabba-Mellit-El Fasher route by stationing troops close to Mellit in order to seize supplies.

This comes after the Sudanese Foreign Ministry notified the UN recently that the government had approved the use of the Port Sudan-Atbara-Mellit-El Fasher route and the Al-Tina border with Chad for humanitarian assistance.
