August saw the most terrorist strikes in Pakistan since November 2014

According to a study created by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), there has been a substantial surge in terrorist assaults throughout all of Pakistan in the month of August, with 99 terror occurrences registered so far.

is the greatest number reported in a single month since November 2014, according to the data. The News reported on Sunday that these assaults, which mostly targeted members of the security forces and civilians, had resulted in 112 fatalities and 87 injuries.

According to statistics, there was an 83% increase in assaults in August compared to July, with 54 incidents throughout the month. Four suicide attacks were also listed in the PICSS study, three of which occurred in KP’s tribal areas and one on the country’s main island.

Meanwhile, the month of July saw five suicide attacks, the most in a year. According to The News, there were 22 suicide attacks around the nation in the first eight months of 2023, resulting in 227 fatalities and 497 injuries.

According to the statistics, as compared to the previous month, Balochistan and the formerly Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA) were the two regions most impacted by terrorist activity. The number of militant assaults in Balochistan increased by 65% from 17 in July to 28 in August, while the number of attacks in the former FATA increased by 106% from 18 in July to 37 in August. But there was also a drop in mortality in both areas, by 19% and 29%, respectively.

The number of militant assaults in KP, excluding its tribal regions, significantly increased from 15 in July to 29 in August, an increase of 83%. According to The News, both the number of fatalities and injuries rose by 188% and 73%, respectively.

The TTP and its breakaway factions primarily targeted the province and claimed credit for multiple assaults. From three in July to five in August, there was a very minor rise in terrorist assaults in the province of Sindh. The number of fatalities also rose from one to four.
