Australia relaxes the restriction on X-rays depicting attacks on churches

On Monday, an Australian court overturned a ban on the social networking site X that prevented Australians from seeing a video of a Sydney church stabbing of a bishop. The eSafety Commission of Australia requested an extension of the court order, which was set to expire on Monday, but the judge denied it. Instead, the interim ban was implemented on April 22.

Judge Geoffrey Kennett of the Australian Federal Court promised to make public the rationale for his decision to impose and then rescind the injunction. The judgment was in favor of the business that billionaire Elon Musk renamed after purchasing Twitter last year.

Social media sites that refused to take down the footage of Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel being stabbed were only X. Musk has maintained that he is defending the idea of free speech. Legislators in Australia have accused him of conceit and a lack of civic responsibility.
