Climbers from Britain and Sherpa go lost while descending Mount Everest

According to media reports on Wednesday, a British climber and a Sherpa mountaineer guide fell on their way down to the lower camps after summiting Mount Everest, and they have been missing since Tuesday morning.

According to the Himalayan Times newspaper, the victims are Pas Tenji Sherpa from Makalu, Sangkhuwasabha, and Daniel Paul Peterson from the UK. The pair belonged to 8K Expeditions.

According to a source at the base camp, the British climber and the Sherpa were swept away on Tuesday morning when a portion of the route at the Hillary step below the summit broke.

According to reports, the event happened on May 21 at approximately 4.40 am, while the two were making their way down to the lower camps after climbing the highest mountain in the world.

The report states that when the route collapsed at the Hillary portion, a crew from Summit Force Pvt Ltd lead by Nga Tenji Sherpa and Pasang Sherpa performed rescue operations and rescued additional climbers.

Witnesses reported to the base camp authorities, “A few climbers were immediately rescued but Peterson and Pas Tenji fell down.”
