Former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott attends LPU’s yearly commencement

Sunday was the 11th annual convocation of Lovely Professional University (LPU), with former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott serving as the keynote speaker. Additionally, he received an honorary doctorate.

During the ceremony, 567 deserving students, 555 PhD scholars, and 102 gold medallists were honored. In addition to almost 60,000 students graduating, the event also marked the graduation of LPU’s first cohort of “online mode students.”

Abbott praised India and encouraged the kids to be proud of their country’s ability to spread wealth and peace around the globe. He exhorted the students to use the self-assurance that their degrees had given them to positively influence society.

Chancellor of LPU Ashok Kumar Mittal chaired the function. Parents and students attended the event from a variety of states and nations, including Canada, Australia, Bhutan, and others.
