Former Pakistani PM Imran Khan’s PTI has nominated Omar Ayub to be the next prime minister

Local media sources state that Omar Ayub, the party secretary general, has been nominated by Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) as its prime ministerial candidate.

The biggest group consists of the independent candidates supported by PTI. Even though independents received 101 seats in the national parliament, only a recognized party or coalition of parties is able to create a government, therefore in order for them to form a meaningful bloc, they would need to join another organization.

The declaration coincides with efforts to create a coalition government by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Nawaz Sharif’s PML-N.

Omar Ayub: who is he?
Omar Ayub, who was born on January 26, 1970, is a member of the well-known Ayub Khan family. His grandfather was General Muhammad Ayub Khan, who served as Pakistan’s second president. In addition to holding many ministerial roles and serving as a member of the National Assembly, his father, Gohar Ayub Khan, also had a notable political career.

Reputable educational institutes in Pakistan as well as elsewhere taught Omar Ayub. He finished his primary schooling in Pakistan before going abroad to further his study.

He became a member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, which was started by Imran Khan, a politician and former cricket player who eventually rose to the position of prime minister in Pakistan. Omar Ayub Khan has held a number of significant posts in the PTI and the government throughout the years.

He has served in a number of ministerial capacities, including that of Minister of Energy, Minister of Petroleum, and Minister of Economic Affairs.
