Four prominent Hamas commanders are killed by the IDF at Gaza’s Al-Shifa hospital

Four top Hamas commanders were killed, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), during operations inside the Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City, where a number of the terror group’s members were holed up.

The fatalities have been named as Mahmoud Khalil Zakzuk, the deputy commander of the Hamas rocket unit in Gaza City, and Raad Thabet, the director of Hamas recruiting and supply procurement, according to an IDF statement.

The other two, Fadi Dweik and Zakaria Najib, have been recognized as prominent Hamas agents.

According to the IDF, Dweik was a top Hamas intelligence official and took part in the shooting incident in the West Bank in 2002 that claimed the lives of four Israeli residents.

According to the IDF, Zakaria Najib was a top operator in the West Bank headquarters of Hamas and was engaged in both the planning and execution of strikes against Israel in the West Bank.

In a statement released on Saturday night, the IDF reported that its forces had killed some 200 Hamas operatives inside the hospital and that there was still a gunfight going on within the grounds of Al-Shifa hospital.

The statement said that on Saturday in the Khan Younis neighborhood of southern Gaza, the IDF killed several Hamas militants.

According to the army, the Israel Air Force also conducted aircraft assaults in the al-Amal and al-Quarara area, mostly in order to bolster the IDF’s ground invasion.

IANS was informed by sources in the Israel Defense Ministry that the IDF was undertaking combing operations in the hospitals of Al-Shifa and Al-Nasser, where a number of Hamas operatives are still holed up.
