Lahore On Wednesday, a suspect wanted in the gang-rape of a French-Pakistani woman near a highway in Lahore was arrested on Monday. The accused had carried out the incident in front of the three children of the woman, after which there was anger over it all over the country. In a tweet on Monday, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bajdar identified the accused as Shafqat Ali (23) and said that the samples of the accused matched the DNA collected from the spot.
On Sunday, Shafqat was arrested after one of the two accused surrendered on Sunday. On a question about the incident, Prime Minister Imran Khan said, he (rapists) will be given such a punishment which will prove to be a test. In my view, they should hang on the square.
