Graduates revert to Biden during speech

Applauded and cheered, US President Joe Biden gave the commencement speech at Morehouse College on Sunday. However, some students turned away from Biden because of his support for Israel in its conflict with Hamas, which has strained relations between the two institutions.

As part of his election-year agenda, Biden will speak to Morehouse Institution, a historically black men’s institution in Atlanta, to mend fences with young black men and quell resentment about his stance on Israel.

To cheers, Biden said, “I’ve called for an immediate ceasefire because there is a humanitarian crisis in Gaza.” He said, “I know it irritates and frustrates a lot of people, including my family.” —
