Ilyas was taken into custody by police on suspicion of taking part in a shooting incident and reportedly taking his family’s belongings. After Ilyas was arrested, his party workers and supporters congregated outside his house and the police station, respectively. According to The Express News, on May 1, police filed a complaint against him for attempting to take control of Centaurus Mall’s central offices and crucial paperwork.

Colonel (retd) Tipu Sultan, the Centaurus Mall’s deputy security in charge, submitted the First Information Report (FIR), accusing Muhammad Ali, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, Anil Sultan, Rizwan, and other unidentified people.

According to the First Information Report, office 1708 of Centaurus Mall was broken into by an armed gang of twenty to twenty-five people, led by Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, who broke the lock with the purpose of taking possession of the building.
