Jerusalem. Israeli soldiers shot and killed a Palestinian teenager in the West Bank. This information was given by the Ministry of Health of Palestine and local media. At the same time, the Israeli army has not yet confirmed this. Israeli troops have started raiding at night in the West Bank city of Jenin for the past few months. The Palestinian Health Ministry has identified the slain teenager as Amjad al-Fayed (17). Another teenager was injured in the Israeli firing, and the 18-year-old was in critical condition, the ministry said.
According to local media reports, clashes broke out outside a refugee camp in Jenin after Israeli forces arrived. However, it is not yet clear why al-Fayed was shot.
Israel says it is conducting an "counter-terrorism operation" to nab wanted terrorists and perpetrators of recent deadly attacks on Israel. Significantly, on May 11, a senior Palestinian journalist working for Al Jazeera was killed while reporting on Israeli military action in Jenin.
