Reaction to head office demolition: Imran Khan’s party says, “Thief government; violated sanctity of party’s office”

Islamabad, Pakistan, May 24: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) responded to the anti-encroachment operation by claiming that the government had “violated” the sanctity of a political party’s office after the Capital Development Authority demolished a portion of the party’s central secretariat in Islamabad, according to ARY News.

Speaking to the reporters outside the office, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said that the CDA lacked permission for the operation and that they had not sent out any notifications in the previous two years.

Despite being the most “respected” building after parliament, Barrister Gohar said that the government had “violated” the sanctity of a political party’s office, according to ARY News.

The PTI Chairman went on to assert that the property was free of any unauthorized building.

“Even if there were encroachments, the CDA should have sent prior notice before the operation,” he said.

Condemning the destruction of their party headquarters, the PTI Islamabad issued a message on X.

Vandalism and an armed incursion into the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf central office late at night. The invasion of the nation’s largest political party in the dead of night by the mandate-thief government is sharply denounced by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. Reiterating our resolve to pursue the goal of real independence without surrendering in the slightest to intimidation, illegality, or the heedless use of force.”

Furthermore, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi was charged by PTI Secretary General and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub, of organizing an “illegal” operation at the party headquarters.

He said that the PTI was being attacked “unfairly” and emphasized that they would use the judicial system to win this conflict.

“We will summon Chairman CDA, IG Islamabad, to the Privileges Committee of the National Assembly,” he said.

A piece of PTI’s main office was demolished as part of an operation by the CDA’s anti-encroachment team on Thursday, according to ARY News. The operation was intended to eliminate unlawful buildings and encroachments.

The PTI headquarters have been reached and sealed by the anti-encroachment squad and the district government, according to the facts.

Heavy-duty police officers have been stationed outside the PTI headquarters, and officials from the CDA have announced that the unlawfully constructed political party offices are being dismantled.

According to ARY News, the block of land on which the PTI office is being built is under investigation since it was given to a person by the name of Sartaj Ali.
