Talks Between Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto and EAM Jaishankar

The goal of the meeting between Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Thursday was to further the recently reestablished defense and security cooperation between the two nations.

I’m glad to have met @GuidoCrosetto, the minister of defense, today. The agenda was centered on advancing our reestablished defense and security alliance. The minister wrote on X that she “appreciated his assessments and valued his suggestions for defense industry cooperation.”

Jaishankar started his visit to Rome with a Senate discussion on the strengthening partnership between the two countries. He landed here as the last stop on his four-day tour of Portugal and Italy.

“Had a Senate discussion on our strengthening partnership to start the Italy visit. We are grateful to Sens. Roberto Menia and Giulio Terzi for co-chairing. Thank you for the kind words about India, whatever of political affiliation,” he said in another X post.

Additionally, Jaishankar will meet Antonio Tajani, his colleague.

Giorgia Meloni, the prime minister of Italy, upgraded the two nations’ ties to a “Strategic Partnership” during her visit to New Delhi in March.
