Texas’s anti-abortion measure was pushed by Donald Trump’s Supreme Court attorney

The US Supreme Court will rule on whether Donald Trump’s actions after his loss in the 2020 presidential contest and his involvement in the US Capitol riots on January 6, 2021, exclude him from the 2024 presidential race. Notable is Trump’s selection of Jonathan Mitchell as his attorney, a person well-known for his role in drafting strict anti-abortion legislation in Texas.

The ‘bounty hunter’ legislation in Texas is Mitchell’s most notorious innovation. Because of this legislation, those who sue anybody who assists in abortions will get financial compensation.

This rule effectively gives anybody the right to go after anyone they think is supporting or encouraging the process, including friends and relatives.

Mitchell has played a significant role in a number of other far-right movements in addition to his anti-abortion effort.

He has aggressively campaigned for the prohibition of books with LGBTQ characters, the dismantling of Obamacare, and restrictions on LGBTQ rights.

Mitchell’s steadfast dedication to ultra-conservative ideals is evident in his legal portfolio, which reads like a lengthy list of complaints spoken at conservative events.
