PM Wickremesinghe said - the country is unable to buy oil
Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has said his debt-ridden economy has collapsed after months of lack of food, fuel, and electricity. In this condition now the country is unable to buy oil.

Prime Minister Wickremesinghe told parliament on Wednesday that Sri Lanka was facing a more dire situation than just a lack of fuel, gas, electricity, and food. Our economy has completely collapsed in the current era. Wickremesinghe is also the Finance Minister of the country and he has an important responsibility to give stability to the economy.

He said that Sri Lanka is unable to buy imported oil as it has huge debts to Petroleum Corporation. He said the situation in the country has worsened due to the foreign exchange crisis due to which people have to stand in long lines to buy essential items including fuel, cooking, and medicines.

Even India will not be able to save us for long
Sri Lanka has got a credit line of $ 4 billion mainly due to the liberal policies of the neighboring country India. But Wickremesinghe said that even India will not be able to save Sri Lanka for long. Sri Lanka has already suspended repayments of $7 billion in foreign debt due this year. However, discussions are on the rescue package from the IMF.
