Video | A ‘Simple’ mistake causes the parachute to fail, killing a British base jumper in Thailand

According to UK media sources, a 33-year-old British base jumper died in Thailand when his parachute failed to deploy during his leap from a high-rise structure in the eastern seaside city of Pattaya.

On Saturday night, witnesses saw someone smash through a tree and tumble to the ground. This prompted police to go to a 29-story apartment building. The individual had a blue parachute on him that the police said had not opened. The victim, Nathy Odinson, seems to have been a skilled parachutist based on his social media accounts.

According to the UK’s Daily Mail, Nathy’s brother disclosed the “simple” error he made with his parachute that led to his death. According to Ed Harrison, 39, there was “no chance” for the pilot chute to release since it was twisted in his harness in the horrifying video footage of the Nathy’s last moments.

According to accounts, the guy entered the building with pals recording him, and the building officials confirmed this. Among foreign residents of Southeast Asia, this sport—which involves parachute jumping from tall landmarks—has grown in popularity.

The attention that daredevil films get on social media only provides a little income for a select few. Though there is less time for error—just a few seconds before impact—the sport has a greater mortality rate than skydiving.

According to the BBC, a British man died in southeast France in March after base jumping. A representative for the UK Foreign Office said on Sunday, “We are supporting the family of a British man who passed away in Thailand.”
