What Benjamin Netanyahu’s Office Said: HAMAS Is Prepared For Ceasefire, But Israel Isn’t

Following HAMAS’s acceptance of the truce agreement, Israel turned down the cease-fire request. The peace agreement that Hamas approved was rejected on Tuesday by the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office.

The War Cabinet reached a unanimous decision to keep Israel engaged in the Rafah operation to apply military pressure on Hamas in order to advance the liberation of our captives and the war’s other objectives. Simultaneously, despite the fact that the Hamas plan falls far short of Israel’s standards, Israel will dispatch a group of middle-class mediators to explore all avenues for finding a resolution that would satisfy Israel.

Truce Deal Accepted by Hamas
This comes after HAMAS said on Monday that it has agreed to the cease-fire with Israel that was mediated in Cairo during the seven-month conflict in Gaza by Qatar and Egypt.
The prime minister of Qatar and the minister of intelligence for Egypt had a conversation with Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas’ political bureau, according to a statement from Hamas.

The head of the Hamas movement’s political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, made a phone call to Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al-Thani, the prime minister of Qatar, and Mr. Abbas Kamel, the minister of intelligence in Egypt, informing them that the Hamas movement approves of their proposal regarding the ceasefire agreement, according to a statement obtained by Times Now from HAMAS.

Times Now was previously informed by Israeli official sources that “We do not take things based on reports.” We’ll hold off till the proposal is formally received by us. We will reply after thoroughly reviewing the idea.”

Hours after Israel ordered over 100,000 Palestinians in Rafah to leave the city’s eastern area, indicating that an attack was impending, HAMAS accepted a cease-fire agreement.
The final major settlement in Gaza that Israel had not yet conquered was Rafah.

Following a deadly assault by Hamas on October 7, 2023, which resulted in over 1300 deaths and 240 hostages, Israel initiated Operation “Sword of Iron.”

Authorities in Gaza claim that over 34,000 Palestinians have died as a result of the Israeli onslaught.
