After getting assurance from Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij on farmers' demands, Bharatiya Kisan Union (Chadhuni) withdrew its program blocking National Highway 44. BKU (Chadhuni) President Gurnam Singh Chadhuni had called for the blocking of National Highway-44 for the alleged failure of the government to withdraw all the cases registered against the farmers during the protest against the repealed farm laws.
Chaudhuri said that during the meeting with the delegation of farmers, Vij accepted their demand after which they decided not to block the highway. He said the organization would organize a meeting on Thursday instead of stopping the highway at Mohra near Ambala Cantonment Anaj Mandi. Vij told reporters that the government has said that except for heinous cases, all cases will be withdrawn.
Meanwhile, the minister said, "I have assured them that the process is underway, following which they have withdrawn their decision to block the highway yesterday." A statement issued last week by the home minister's office said That 294 cases were registered during the protests against the three agricultural laws of the central government and permission to cancel 163 of them has been received from the state government. The court has permitted the withdrawal of the case in 98 cases.
