Modi First Indian Prime Minister to Address US Legislature Twice, 11 Foreign Parliaments | A Look at How Others Fared

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will speak to the joint session of the US House of Representatives and Senate on June 22 during his first formal state visit to the US on June 21. PM Modi will address the legislature in a foreign nation for the 12th time this year.

In his nine years as prime minister, Modi has spoken before the legislatures of 11 different nations, which is a record for an Indian PM.

During his ten years as prime minister of the UPA, Manmohan Singh spoke before seven foreign legislatures.

when Jawaharlal Nehru did it three times when he was Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi spoke before foreign legislatures four times. Only twice each did Rajiv Gandhi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee speak before foreign legislatures.

Former prime ministers Morarji Desai and PV Narsimha Rao only had the opportunity to accomplish this once.
