Tuesday at noon saw the commencement of the 41 laborers’ evacuation from the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi, after the successful breaching of the 60-meter section of debris by rescuers. According to Dainik Jagran, up to fifteen laborers were retrieved from the tunnel and were receiving medical examinations from a group of physicians. The rescued workers were interacting with Union Minister of State VK Singh and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who also arrived to the scene.
Earlier today, the drilling that was done to provide a way out for the trapped workers was finished. The discovery was discovered seventeen days after the accident. On November 12, a section of the Silkyara tunnel collapsed, trapping the 41 laborers who worked there.
Ambulances and NDRF troops are waiting at the tunnel’s entrance as the rescue squad gets ready to free the trapped laborers. At the Community Health Center in Chinyalisaur, plans have been established for the 41 workers’ care in the event that they are successfully rescued.
