Meet the recent IIT graduate who was employed by a Rs 11634 crore firm and elevated to CTO
A number of the largest corporations in the world are led by IIT graduates, and one of these graduates has just been promoted to a major position at a company valued at Rs 11634 crore. We are speaking about Nikhil Mittal, an IIT graduate who was named Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the grocery delivery company Zepto. Mittal was the first employee of Zepto and has been with the company from its founding in February 2021, according to his LinkedIn page.
Nikhil Mittal, an IIT graduate, will work under co-founder Kaivalya Vohra as CTO of Zepto. Co-founder Vohra remarked, “Nikhil has built out a high performing engineering team from scratch in an unbelievably short period of time and with frugality. More importantly, he has scaled himself to be an exceptional leader.”
In case you missed it, Zepto was the first unicorn to come from India in 2023. The Mumbai-based firm faced competition from companies like Tata’s BigBasket, Blinkit, owned by Zomato, Reliance-funded Dunzo, and Swiggy Instamart. Zepto has raised about $600 million from investors over the years, including Y Combinator, Nexus VP, Goodwater Capital, and the StepStone Group. The business has a valuation of Rs 11634 crore as of late.
