Meryl Streep, Greta Gerwig, and Heidi Klum during the Opening Ceremonies of Cannes 2024; Red Carpet Moments

The red carpet opening ceremony for the 77th Cannes Film Festival was an elegant affair. Numerous celebrities from across the world attended the opening film Le Deuxieme Acte (The Second Act) at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France, wearing their best couture outfits…

These celebrities ruled the red carpet during the opening ceremony, including Meryl Streep, Jane Fonda, Heidi Klum, and Greta Gerwig, among others, who made a statement with their distinct outfits.

When fashion took over the red carpet, elegant dresses gave way to sharp shapes. Making a statement was the focus of the red carpet, whether it was Meryl Streep’s classic bespoke Dior haute couture dress or Jane Fonda’s Elie Saab pre-fall 2019 jumpsuit with a sequin-embroidered bodice.

If not pure black or white, the color scheme did tend toward everyone’s favorite color, red. In a flaming couture gown designed by Saiid Kobeisy, Heidi Klum turned heads. The lavish off-the-shoulder gown, complete with train, complemented Heidi’s exuberance on the red carpet. giving her whole look a little more drama.

The 77th Cannes Film Festival jury president for the main competition, actor-director Greta Gerwig, proved once again that a red carpet isn’t complete without sequins. Greta looked gorgeous in burgundy, the color of jewels, dolled up in a sequin dress. Accompanying her, wearing a fair share of sparkly glitter, was actress and jury member Lily Gladstone.

The jewelry items worn by the celebs made the opening ceremony sparkle, even though the silhouettes on the red carpet upped the glam factor. Every piece of jewelry, from Taylor Hill’s multi-layered, creative, dazzling necklace to Meryl Streep’s Hanut pendant earrings by Fred Leighton Jewelry, caught attention on the red carpet.
