NEET Paper To Be Solved For Rs 10 Lakh: Teacher And Two Others Arrested For Exam Malpractice At Godhra

For their alleged participation in the malpractice of aiding six individuals sitting for the NEET-UG test by offering to answer their exams for a price of Rs 10 lakh each, a criminal complaint has been filed against a schoolteacher and two other people in Godhra, Gujarat, police said on Thursday.

According to a FIR, the district collector got a tip, which led to the busting of the scam at a Godhra school that was selected as a testing location for the NEET-UG exam on Sunday.

The deputy superintendent of examinations at the center, Tushar Bhatt, a physics instructor, was scheduled alongside two other people, Parsuram Roy and Arif Vora. According to the police, Bhatt received an advance payment from Vora of Rs 7 lakh in cash from his vehicle in exchange for helping a candidate get on the merit list.

In accordance with the agreement reached between the accused and a number of NEET-UG applicants, the latter were requested to omit questions with unknown answers. According to the police, who cited the FIR, the answers to these questions were to be prepared as soon as the test materials were gathered.

The district education official filed a complaint, leading to the filing of a formal complaint at the Godhra taluka police station. In the FIR, it is said that Bhatt was employed as a teacher at Jay Jalaram School before being named the city’s deputy center superintendent for NEET.

On the day of the test, Bhatt was questioned by a group of district education officers and extra collectors who had come to the school. According to the FIR, when they checked his cellphone, they found a list of 16 applicants along with their names, test locations, and roll numbers that co-accused Roy had provided to his WhatsApp account.

Bhatt said that these applicants were expected to sit the NEET test at his center when he was asked about the list. District Education Officer Kirit Patel said that he subsequently admitted to having been given Rs 10 lakh apiece to answer the questions on the exam for six of these students.

Authorities confiscated an advance payment of Rs 7 lakh made by one of the candidates.

The district collector received a report from the investigative team, which also confiscated the teacher’s cell phone, cash, and the vehicle containing the cash. The district collector then directed the filing of a formal complaint.

According to a police station officer in Godhra taluka, the three suspects were charged with criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, and criminal cheating.

The official said that further inquiry into the situation was in progress.

Students who want to enroll in undergraduate medical (MBBS), dental (BDS), and AYUSH (BAMS, BUMS, BHMS) programs in Indian government and private universities must pass the NEET (UG) admission exam.
