Story of Ram Janaki Marriage
According to Ramayana, Lord Shri Ram was born to King Dasharatha of Ayodhya. Mother Sita was born to King Janak of Mithila. That's why she is also called Janaki. According to the legend, Mother Sita met King Janak in the field while ploughing. Once Sita ji had lifted the bow of Lord Shiva in a game. Which was given to King Janak by Parashurama. Seeing this, King Janak was shocked because only Parashuram ji had the ability to lift this bow. Seeing these qualities of mother Sita, King Janak put the condition of her swayamvara that whoever can lift the bow of Shankar ji and offer it to him, Sita ji will be married to her.
Hearing this condition of King Janak, Vishwamitra reached Sita Swayam with Lord Rama and Lakshmana with him. All the other princes and kings who had reached the swayamvara were unable to lift Shiva's bow. King Janak started getting frustrated that 'Is no one worthy of my daughter?
Then came the occasion of Lord Shri Ram. Ram ji lifted the bow in one go. Seeing this, everyone was shocked. But when Lord Shri Ram on the behest of the Guru, Shiva started offering the strings of the bow. Shiva's bow broke while trying to make a bow. Angered by this, Lord Parashuram himself asked Shri Ram to make atonement. But seeing the form of Lord Vishnu in Shri Ram, he blessed his marriage with Sita. With everyone's blessings, the marriage of Shri Ram and Mata Janaki was completed. Ram-Sita pair is considered ideal in Hinduism and Indian society.
