Why It’s Not Too Late to Attend the 126th Annual Ooty Flower Festival

Due to its lushness and natural beauty, Tamil Nadu’s Nilgiris area is a well-liked tourist destination. Millions of people go there each year to take in the breathtaking views of the Nilgiri Hills. This charming location has one extra appeal. Every year, in the summer, there is a flower exposition that draws a lot of visitors. The 126th Ooty Flower Festival is being celebrated this year in the Government Botanical Garden at Udhagamandalam, Ooty, with much fanfare and happiness.

The flower festival features a variety of flower species shown in beautifully designed flowerbeds. The botanical garden is filled with ornamental flowers in honor of the celebration. More than 250 exhibitors from throughout the nation are presenting more than 150 flower types at the Ooty Flower Festival 2024, including Inca Marigold, Dahlia, Daisy, Zinnia, Salvia, Ageratum, Daisy White, Delphinium, and numerous Anthurium plants.

Commencing on May 10, the Ooty Flower Festival 2024 is scheduled to run until May 20. The event is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. A laser display opened the event. There will be a laser spectacular like this one at the closing ceremony.

In 1896, the Ooty Flower Festival was inaugurated. The Nilgiri Agricultural Society hosted the exhibition’s first edition. For the residents of the state, the yearly occasion, which served as a platform for the exhibition of colorful flowers, has become a custom. After years of operation under the Nilgiris Agricultural Society, the event was taken over by the government in 1980. In 1996, the government established a 4-hectare rose garden as part of a 100-year commemoration.

A sizable audience is also anticipated for the Rose Show, which is held in conjunction with the Flower Festival. There will be over 4200 different rose varietals on display during the expo. Viewers will be treated to an array of vibrant roses from throughout the nation.
