1,053 accidents were handled by SSF in February: DGP

Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav said here on Monday that the newly established Sadak Surakhiya Force (SSF) has reacted to 1,053 accidents with an average response time of 6 minutes and 29 seconds (389 seconds), which is well within international norms.

The DGP praised the SSF team for their outstanding efforts and accomplishments and stated, “The SSF has not only responded to accidents in a record time but also resulted in saving numerous lives by providing first aid to at least 784 road accident victims and ensuring hospital care to as many as 574 seriously injured individuals.”

To commemorate the end of the force’s first month, DGP Gaurav Yadav and ADGP Traffic and Road Safety AS Rai also launched the SSF guidebook today. Umesh Sharma, a research associate at PRSTRC, and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gagan Ajit Singh were also present.

With great pleasure, I present the first volume of the SSF handbook, which was painstakingly put together by the Punjab Road Safety and Traffic Research Center. This all-inclusive guidance represents a turning point in our efforts to improve road safety throughout Punjab,” he said.

According to the DGP, this handbook will provide the SSF with the know-how it needs to tackle urgent issues and guarantee safer roads by providing useful advice and tactical instructions.

Further information was provided by ADGP AS Rai, who said that the SSF handbook includes comprehensive instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and organized data that are necessary for efficient operations. He went on to say that it covers a range of topics, such as the organizational structure of SSF, accident investigation methods, and preventative efforts.

The SSF, which operates over 4,100 kilometers of vital corridors, is dedicated to improving safety on Punjab’s state, federal, and primary district roadways.
