50% of cattle have received skin disease vaccinations, according to Gurmeet Singh Khudian

In only 17 days, the state Animal Husbandry Department has immunized around 50% of the cattle head in the current major campaign against lumpy skin disease (LSD). LSD is an infectious, viral illness that may be lethal and involves fever and skin nodules.

Notably, this effort was started on February 25 and aims to protect the cattle against goat pox by administering a booster dosage of the vaccine for the third time.

The goal of this program, according to Minister of Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, and Fisheries Gurmeet Singh Khudian, was to vaccinate all 25 lakh head of cattle in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

The department, he said, has already immunized 12,49,779.

The Cabinet Minister gave department representatives orders to step up efforts to vaccinate every person against the illness by 100% by April 16.

He said that the agency has sent up to 837 veterinary teams to the field with the goal of giving out 60,000 doses of vaccination per day.

According to Khudian, the Telangana State Veterinary Biological and Research Institution, Hyderabad, provided the state with 25 lakh doses of the vaccine at a cost of Rs 78.75 lakh in order to immunize cattle against LSD.

According to Minister of Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, and Fisheries Gurmeet Singh Khudian, the state government had set a goal to vaccinate 25 lakh head of cattle in the state as part of the program.
He also said that the department has already vaccinated 12,49,779 cattle and instructed department representatives to step up efforts to vaccinate every calf against the lumpy skin disease by April 16 in order to reach 100% immunization.
