74 flights on Air India Express have been canceled due to the ongoing strike by cabin staff workers

May 9, New Delhi According to reports, more than 70 flights were canceled on Thursday as a result of the Air India Express cabin crew’s widespread sick absence.

Sources informed IANS that although 292 AIX flights are scheduled to run today, 74 are canceled.

The airline’s cabin staff took a mass sick absence, alleging that there had been a discernible break from their pledges of job security, wage preservation, and seniority and competence recognition.

In a previous letter to Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran, the Air India Express Employees Union (AIXEU), which represents a portion of the cabin crew, addressed employee grievances and expressed concerns about the current state of affairs within Air India Express Limited, particularly following Tata’s acquisition of the company.

The airline has been charged by the union with poor management and treating employees unfairly, alleging that these problems have a negative effect on worker morale.

Aloke Singh, the CEO of Air India Express, said in a letter to his coworkers that the incident is undoubtedly not indicative of the roughly 2,000 cabin crew members who work for the firm and always go above and beyond to serve our passengers with pride and commitment.

Since yesterday night, more than 100 of our coworkers in the cabin staff have abruptly and prematurely reported illness, seriously interfering with our operations. The letter, which was written on Wednesday, said that “the impact was disproportionate, disrupting over 90 flights even though other colleagues reported for duty because this action was mostly by colleagues assigned L1 roles.”
