954 police officers were awarded service medals on I-Day

On the occasion of the nation’s 77th Independence Day, which will be observed on Tuesday, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs announced on Monday that 954 police officers had received Police Medals.

Assistant Commandant Loukrakpam Ibomcha Singh of the Central Reserve Police Force has received the President’s Police Medal for Valor (PPMG), according to a statement released by the MHA today.

 

229 police officers have received the Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG), 82 have received the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM), and 642 have received the Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM).

 

 

“Among the majority of the 230 Gallantry Awards, 125 personnel from Left Wing Extremism affected areas, 71 personnel from the Jammu and Kashmir region, and 11 personnel from the North East region are being awarded for their gallant action,” according to the MHA.

 

28 members of the CRPF, 33 members of Maharashtra, 55 members of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, 24 members of Chhattisgarh, 22 members of Telangana, and 18 members of Andhra Pradesh make up the list of those receiving gallantry awards. The remaining members come from other states, Union Territories (UTs), and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).

 

President’s Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG) and Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) are given out for conspicuous bravery that results in the preservation of life and property, the reduction of crime, or the capture of offenders. President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM) and Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM) are given out in recognition of meritorious service that exemplifies resourcefulness and loyalty to duty.
