A BJP MP accuses Ashok Gehlot of money laundering and files a complaint with the ED

The Enforcement Directorate received a complaint from BJP MP Kirodi Lal Meena on Friday saying that various commercial enterprises were being utilised to launder Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Rajasthan,’s illicit funds.

The Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) is being used in the complaint filed against Vaibhav Gehlot, the son of the chief minister, and a guy who is allegedly the younger Gehlot’s business partner.

The Rajya Sabha MP claims that a Mauritius-based shell business is engaged in the money laundering along with a number of other people, including Vaibhav Gehlot’s wife.

The MP delivered the 10-page complaint to an ED joint director after travelling here to the central agency’s headquarters with a small group of supporters.

According to the lawsuit, Vaibhav Gehlot, who also serves as the president of the Rajasthan Cricket Association, is connected to the businessman who allegedly uses “illegal money channelled from Ashok Gehlot” to fund initiatives all across the nation.

Meena mentioned two hotel companies and claimed that they were involved in the purported money laundering scheme.

The BJP representative said that the ED needed to conduct a thorough, impartial probe into the “facts” included in the allegation.

He claimed that Vaibhav Gehlot and others engaged in “benami” transactions and tax cheating.

Meena said in a news conference the previous day that investigations will show the CM to be the wealthiest politician in the nation.

The chief minister and his office did not respond right away.

Meena further claimed on Thursday that the CM’s son spent Rs 96.75 crore in a hospitality business that owns a hotel in Jaipur through a shell company with a Mauritius address. He said that the Gehlot family’s “black money” is being laundered via the shell firm.

Meena had informed reporters that both the hotel business and the Mauritius company were established in 2007.

Additionally, he said that the Jaipur Development Authority approved the building of the Jaipur hotel in 2009, while the Congress leader was still serving as chief minister.

Additionally, he claimed Gehlot’s associates owned the hotels being built in Udaipur and Mount Abu, alleging anomalies in their approval of their development.

A close friend of the chief minister who lives in London, according to Meena, deposited Rs 100 crore in the shell business.
