A man is detained under the Public Safety Act

Sunday saw the booking of an accused criminal in the Reasi district of Jammu & Kashmir under the harsh Public Safety Act (PSA).

According to a police spokeswoman, Jaswinder Singh, also known as “Sundri,” a resident of Katra’s Sarna neighborhood, was detained under the PSA and sent to district prison Udhampur by district magistrate Reasi Vishesh Paul Mahajan.

Singh is a well-known criminal who was mentioned in more than six cases at the Katra police station between 2011 and 2023, some of which included attempted murder. The representative said that he was also seen inspiring young people to follow him.

According to the officer, he compiled his PSA dossier per the instructions of Mohita Sharma, the Senior Superintendent of Police in Reasi, and sent it to the district court along with the required detention order. A drug dealer was detained in the district’s Sulla, close to Katra town, along with three grams of heroin and an electronic scale, according to the spokeswoman. The incident happened during an unexpected vehicle inspection.
