Adar Poonawala said when Kovishield got the green signal - we got the results of hard work

National Desk: Serum Institute of India Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Adar Poonawalla said on Sunday that Oxford-AstraZeneca's Kovid-19 vaccine 'Kovishield' is ready for vaccination in the coming weeks. Poonawala made this statement immediately after India's drug regulator approved the limited emergency use of Kovishield.

Poonawala tweeted that Happy New Year to all. The risks that the Serum Institute of India took for vaccine storage are finally bearing fruit. India's first Kovid-19 vaccine 'Kovishield' is approved, safe, effective and ready for vaccination in the coming week. He tweeted and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and all the people and organizations including Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan who helped develop the vaccine.
WHO also welcomed the decision.
Besides this, the World Health Organization (WHO) also welcomed the decision of the Central Drugs Standard Controller Organization (CDSCO). Dr. Poonam Khetarpal Singh, Regional Director of South East Asia Region in Health Organization said that the decision to approve emergency use of Corona vaccine in India is welcome.

said that the emergency use of the Corona vaccine in the South East Asia region was first approved in India. This decision of India will strengthen the war against Corona in this region. Dr. Khetrapal said that the implementation of other public health measures along with the vaccination of the target population group on a priority basis and community involvement would help reduce the impact of corona.
