Amit Shah attacks the opposition to the house demonstrations during the International Gita Mahotsav

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Friday that all Union Territories will be prepared to put the new criminal justice legislation into effect by December 2024, one day after Parliament approved the three new laws. “The UTs will have the software, hardware, skilled labor, and fully computerized courts by December of next year to easily implement the three recently passed criminal justice system laws,” said Shah.

On Wednesday, the Lok Sabha approved the Bharatiya Sakshya (second) Bill, the Bharatiya Nyaya (second) Sanhita, and the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha (second) Sanhita. They were passed on Thursday by the Rajya Sabha. The Indian Evidence Act of 1872, the Criminal Procedure Code of 1973, and the Indian Penal Code of 1860 will all be replaced by the three legislation.

Shah stressed earlier in the day the ageless wisdom found in Srimad Bhagavad Gita as a response to personal, social, national, and international problems. Shah was at Kurukshetra to take part in the current International Gita Mahotsav (IGM). Shah chastised the opposition parties for both imitating the Vice President and skipping the Parliamentary discussion on the three bills. After launching nine development projects and setting the groundwork for three more, totaling around <400 crore, at the Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology, he was speaking to a group.

“I wanted to hear what the opposition thought about the bills. Regretfully, they made reasons and chose to abstain from the legislative debate. Opposition MPs were imitating the Vice President during a significant discussion in Parliament, he said. “This is the most reprehensible thing that can be,” Shah said. He was alluding to the incident outside the House on Tuesday during the Opposition’s demonstration on the steps of the Parliament building, in which Trinamool Congress leader Kalyan Banerjee imitated Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.
