Amit Shah Welcomes the Matua Community to the 2023 Matua Maha Mela
Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, on Sunday sent greetings to the Matua community in West Bengal on the occasion of the Matua Maha Mela 2023 and expressed the hope that the event will serve to inspire people with Sri Sri Harichand Thakur ji's sage advice.
The mela is being held to commemorate Sri Sri Harichand Thakur ji's 212th birthday, who is the founder of the Matua sect.
"The #MatuaMahaMela2023 starts today with a spectacular showcase of the Matua community's history. My best wishes go out to the festival's pilgrims.
He tweeted, "May the celebration of Sri Sri Harichand Thakur Ji's 212th birth anniversary inspire everyone with his knowledge.
An estimated 45 lakh people are expected to attend the mela, which is put on by the All India Matua Mahasangha, throughout the course of the week to seek the blessings of the sect's founder.
It is taking place in North 24 Parganas of West Bengal in Sridham Thakurnagar, Thakurbari.
Sarbananda Sonowal, the Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, paid a visit to the mela on Saturday.
