Amritsar: Exhibition honours female artists’ creations

KT Kala opened an art show by women, for women, in honor of International Women’s Day. Exhibiting more than eighty gifted female artists from all around India, the show offers a wide variety of creative interpretations and is open until March 20.

The exhibition was opened by Inspector Rupinder Kaur, in-charge of the Family Counselling Wing (Crime against Women unit), on behalf of Dr. Pragya Jain of DCP City, Amritsar. She said in her speech that for a progressive society, women need to be empowered, given representation and opportunity in all spheres of life.

The Kausa Trust’s secretary, Rajesh Raina, thanked the artists for their outstanding reaction, saying that they had not anticipated having so many painters eager to participate in the show. Like in other facets of society, women in the arts need to be supported and given a chance to express their creativity as well as a means of making a livelihood from it. We hope that more female artists are inspired to keep contributing on additional venues for creativity,” he said.

Speaking about the goals of KT Kala Museum and Gallery, Brajesh Jolly, Director of KT: KalĂ« Amritsar, emphasized the importance of presenting the unique exhibition honoring the inventiveness and achievements of women artists. “KT hopes to highlight the significance of women’s empowerment, gender equality, and involvement in the arts and culture through this event.”

The show included a diverse range of genres and mediums, including contemporary artistic interpretations via digital art and mixed media, as well as classic watercolour landscapes.
