An Army soldier deployed in Ladakh had his severed hand reimplanted by doctors

At the Army Hospital Research and Referral, a soldier had a nine-hour long operation to replace his severed hand. The soldier, who was stationed in Ladakh, was severely injured and had to have one hand amputated on April 9. After being evacuated, the soldier was stabilized by a group of committed medical professionals at the Military Garrison Hospital in Leh.

The physicians acknowledged the urgent necessity for specialized surgery that Leh could not provide. In order to save his hand, it was decided to send the soldier to Delhi for cutting-edge medical attention.

At a moment’s notice, the IAF made the transportation possible. Using night vision technology, an IAF transport aircraft made a night landing in Leh and airlifted the soldier to Delhi. Upon arriving in Delhi’s Palam, the soldier was taken straight to the hospital. He was continuously monitored by medical professionals, and the severed portion was kept cool. After surgery, the soldier is now stable and receiving treatment.
