Another 65 people arrive in Mizoram from Bangladesh’s Chittagong Hill Tracts

On Sunday, a minimum of 65 more refugees from Bangladesh’s Chittagong Hill Tracts reached Lawngtlai in southern Mizoram, bringing their total to 1,433 to this point.
Around three in the morning on Sunday, the migrants made a quick stop in the neighboring Mautlang hamlet before moving into the district’s Vathuampui village, according to Lawngtlai officials.

There are 27 women and 38 men among the refugees, along with children and the sick. Vathuampui village residents informed the district authorities about the newcomers.

On May 10, 127 migrants arrived in Mizoram and sought asylum in six villages: Khawmawi, Hruitezawl, Hmawngbu, Bungtlang South, Vathuampui, and Chamdur ‘P’. This was the last such inflow.

While 21 newcomers arrived in the villages of Khawmawi, Hruitezawl, Hmawngbu, Bungtlang South, and Vathuampui, the remaining individuals are seeking refuge in Champdur ‘P’ village, where they are staying in the community hall.
