As mayor of Chandigarh, Kuldeep Kumar Dhalor would prioritize sanitation

A red carpet greeting was extended to Kuldeep Kumar Dhalor, who officially took over as mayor today at the Municipal Corporation headquarters.

There was a crimson carpet at the building’s entryway. With the party officials and workers clapping and pounding their dhols, Dhalor took the lead.

On February 20, he was proclaimed the winner of the mayoral election by the Supreme Court, which overturned the results of the January 30 vote that Manoj Sonkar of the BJP had been pronounced the winner. Anil Masih, the presiding officer, ruled that eight ballots were illegal before declaring Sonkar the winner.

It wasn’t until yesterday that the new mayor took office, citing personal reasons. Following the orders of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, he assumed his new role today.

AAP leaders in huge numbers attended the ceremony, including Punjab Chief Minister’s OSD Rajveer Singh Ghuman, co-in charge of the city AAP SS Ahluwalia, senior AAP leaders Pradeep Chhabra and Chandermukhi Sharma, and others.

“My top priorities would be to remove the mound of trash at the dumping site and get the city up to the top spot in the Swachhta rating. Thirty percent of the work is yet to be done, but I will finish the other seventy percent now that I am a councillor from Dadu Majra,” he said.

After the budget meeting, Dhalor said that the first item on the agenda to be approved at the very next meeting would be to provide 20,000 liters of free water every family each month. He said, “We will bring it up with the Administration and see it through.”

Images of RSS fanatics ousted from office

The images of RSS ideologues had vanished from the office when the AAP Mayor took over. According to sources, BJP leaders asked to be removed in order to avoid a messy scenario. AAP, meanwhile, hung Bhagat Singh’s photo at the workplace.
