Assembly in TN to Meet on October 9 Due to Cauvery Issue

On top of other regional concerns, the Tamil Nadu Assembly will convene in Chennai on Monday to discuss the Cauvery river water dispute with neighboring Karnataka.

This will also be the first session after the severing of links between the BJP and the AIADMK, two former allies.

The major opposition AIADMK has 66 MLAs, while the BJP only has 4. As NDA members, the two have to compete together in the state elections of 2021.

The first supplemental estimates for FY 2023–24 are expected to be presented on Monday by Thangam Thennarasu, the TN finance minister. The meeting should just last a few minutes.
