At the Khanauri border, a demonstrator, 24, passes away when Haryana police shoot him with tear gas

The first victim of Wednesday’s Farmers Protest 2.0 was a 24-year-old protestor who passed away from his wounds during a confrontation with the Haryana Police near the border. According to medical authorities, Shubh Karan Singh was brought to the hospital and later passed away. This marked a significant uptick in the protests, which have been ongoing since February 13. The demonstrators were barred from entering Haryana from Punjab, and the farmers in Punjab had planned a march to Delhi, which was canceled.

The farmers who are protesting against the Centre stepped up their defense against the Haryana Police on Wednesday afternoon, but before the hospital could confirm that a protester had died, the Haryana Police said that no farmers had died as of yet in the clash on the Shambhu border, despite claims to the contrary on various platforms. “This is only conjecture. The Haryana Police tweeted on X that two police officers and one protester were injured at the Data Singh-Khanauri boundary and are receiving medical attention.
