Attempts Are Being Made To Open Guwahati AIIMS During the Prime Minister's Visit In April: Himanta

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Guwahati, is currently being built, and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the site on Thursday to assess the progress and determine whether the institute might be inaugurated on April 14 during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming trip to the region.

The chief minister examined the state of completion of each area of the construction site, including the main structure and the walkways.

He also met with authorities to discuss the status of the OPD, auditorium, doctor and nurse quarters, dorms for students, fire extinguishers, and waste disposal system.

Dr. Ashok Puranik, the school's executive director, gave the chief minister a briefing on the amenities that will be provided for the institute.

On April 14, the prime minister will visit Assam to take in the Bihu dance at Sarusajai Stadium, which will break the world record.

"Efforts are ongoing in full swing, and we are exploring the prospect of launching the operation of AIIMS on that day," Sarma told reporters.

Three academic years' worth of pupils have already been accepted, he said, and another group of freshmen will start in April or May.

The institution, if fully operational, would lead to a quality improvement in the North East's healthcare system, according to the chief minister.

In order to boost the amount of greenery on the AIIMS campus, Sarma also planted seedlings.
