Awarding a Chamba miniature artist at the SVEEP event

On Monday, Vijay Sharma, a well-known Pahari miniature painter and Chamba District Election Icon, received a Padma Shri Award from Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Electoral Officer Mukesh Repswal. The program called Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was responsible for organizing the event. On June 1, Representative Wal advised every voter to cast a ballot.

Vijay Sharma emphasized the value of using one’s right to vote, which is often underutilized by the general public. He asked all people to vote more on June 1 and to practice responsible citizenship.

There was also a song published at the occasion called “Vote Pana Asaan, Hak Jamaana Jaroor,” which was composed and sung by Gulshan Pal. To create awareness, renowned poet Bhupendra Jasrotia read a poem titled “Vote Pana – Kam Chadhi Karni.”

The voter’s oath was signed by attendees, who also placed their autographs on the wall to demonstrate their passion to bolstering democracy.

Under the SVEEP program, which covers remote villages, educational institutions, etc., the district election officials have organized over 250 voter awareness programs across the district since the model code of conduct was put into effect.

The district has 631 polling places, of which 71 had fewer than 60% of voters cast ballots in the last Lok Sabha elections, according to the statistics. In these stations, “Mission 414” has organized voter awareness campaigns.

School-made invitation cards have been sent to voters to encourage them. In order to register new voters, SVEEP personnel are also working with Nehru Yuva Kendra. In the last year, the district has registered almost 22,000 new voters, 8,500 of them are between the ages of 18 and 19.
