BBC video will be shown by SFI at 6 p.m. on the Jamia campus; two people arrested

The controversial BBC documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be shown on the Jamia Millia Islamia campus at 6 p.m., according to the left-leaning Students' Federation of India (SFI), which made the announcement on Wednesday.

The university administration, however, said that "we will not allow" the documentary showing since no permission has been requested.

The documentary will be shown at the MCRC lawn gate no. 8 at 6 o'clock, according to a banner from the SFI's Jamia section.

When reached, a representative of Jamia responded, "We would not permit the screening since they did not request authorization. Strict measures would be taken against pupils if they went out of their way to accomplish anything." The screening at the Jamia campus is being held a day after a showing of a similar kind was held at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, during which students reported that electricity and internet had been interrupted and that they had been stoned.
