Before filing his nomination for the Lok Sabha, PM Modi offers prayers at Varanasi’s Dashashwamedh Ghat (Watch Video)

Varanasi, May 14: Today in Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi filed his candidacy for the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency after offering prayers at Dashashwamedh Ghat on the banks of the Ganges. Additionally, PM Modi observed the Ganga Aarti at the Ghat and took part in prayers on this auspicious day, which is also known as the Ganga Saptami.

In preparation for the general elections of 2024, PM Modi, the incumbent Member of Parliament and BJP candidate, would submit his nomination papers from the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency, where he has won two terms in a row with significant margins. After praying at the Kal Bhairav Temple, PM Modi will submit his candidacy. With a record margin in mind, PM Modi is running for a third term.

On June 1, Varanasi will be polled in the seventh and final round of the general elections. Prior to PM Modi’s nomination, security had been stepped up outside the Varanasi District Magistrate’s office. The Bharatiya Janata Party said in a Hindi post on X before the nomination that Kashi, a temple town, is once again prepared to send its representative, Prime Minister Modi, to the legislature.

“Maa Ganga has beckoned me; neither I nor anybody else has brought me here. Kashi, the people who live there, and the Chief Servant have a relationship characterized by growth, trust, and love. With record numbers, Kashi is once again prepared to send its esteemed chief servant to the legislature, according to a post by the BJP.

Regarding his connection to the city, PM Modi also commented on X. “My relationship with my Kashi is amazing, inseparable and incomparable. All I can say is that it cannot be expressed in words!” On June 1, Varanasi will host voting for the seventh and final round of the Lok Sabha elections.

Prime Minister Modi staged a lavish roadshow across a five-kilometer stretch of Varanasi on Monday night.
Chaudhary Bhupendra Singh, the state head of the BJP, and Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, accompanied PM Modi. There was a massive gathering of fans and locals on both sides of the road to applaud the Prime Minister, and the whole length echoed with cries of “Har Har Mahadev” and “Jai Shree Ram.”

At around five o’clock in the evening, Prime Minister Narendra began his tour by garlandsing the statue of Mahamana Madan Mohan Malviya at the Singh Dwar of Kashi Hindu University. At the Kashi Vishwanath Dham, the tour came to an end after more than two and a half hours. Along with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other BJP officials, the Prime Minister said prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Dham after the tour.

PM Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party have their stronghold in Varanasi. In the Lok Sabha elections of 2014 and 2019, he was the victor twice.In Varanasi, the Congress has matched PM Modi against Ajay Rai, the head of the Uttar Pradesh Congress. Ajay Rai will go against PM Modi in the Lok Sabha election for the third time.

With a vote percentage of 63.6% and more than 6,74,664 votes, PM Modi won the seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In 2014, Prime Minister Modi ran for two Lok Sabha seats: Varanasi, in Uttar Pradesh, and Vadodara, in Gujarat.
