Beginning in 2024 will be the National Exit Test for graduating MBBS students

The Health Ministry officially announced on Thursday that the National Exit Test (NExT) would start in 2024, putting an end to months of speculation.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) would likely be tasked with administering the National Exit Test (NExT) the following year, according to government sources. The NExT will function as a common qualifying exam for MBBS final year students, a license exam for medical practice, a merit-based admission exam for postgraduate programs, and a screening exam for foreign medical graduates wishing to practice in India, in accordance with the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act.

The government extended the date for holding the NExT test for the last year of MBBS to September 2024 using the terms of the NMC Act, as declared last year.

Within three years of the NMC Act’s entry into force, the Commission must administer the NExT, a uniform test for undergraduate students in their final year. According to the authorities, the deadline was extended last year and the Act will now go into force in September of 2020.

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has not been chosen to administer the exam, although authorities have suggested that AIIMS, New Delhi, may be. According to the administrators, it is essential to provide pupils enough time to prepare.

Finalizing the specifics, such as the curriculum, exam type and style (whether analytical or multiple-choice), test quantity, and applicable restrictions, is part of the preparation process. Prior to the main examination, practice tests would be administered.
