BJP, AAP on Singh Deo As Deputy CM: Damage Control Exercise Won’t Save Cong from Loss in Chhattisgarh

On Thursday, the BJP and the AAP poked fun at the Congress over the selection of TS Singh Deo as Chhattisgarh’s deputy chief minister and questioned if he would serve as the party’s chief ministerial candidate in the future elections given that the public has lost confidence in the current CM, Bhupesh Baghel. Singh Deo, a descendant of the former Sarguja royal dynasty, presently holds responsibilities in the state government for Health and dynasty Welfare, Medical Education, Twenty Point Implementation, and Commercial Tax (GST).

The request for his appointment as the deputy chief minister was accepted, the governing Congress party’s president Mallikarjun Kharge declared on Wednesday.

Amit Malviya, head of the BJP’s IT division, responded to the news by claiming that the appointment of Singh Deo as deputy chief minister of Chhattisgarh by Congress president Kharge is very problematic since it circumvents the constitutional authority of chief minister Bhupesh Baghel. It is a case of the Gandhis using a regional satrap, an OBC leader, until it was convenient, and then dumping him, the BJP leader claimed in a tweet. “Before Karnataka, Baghel used to fund the Congress, but shortly after winning Karnataka, once an alternate source of funding was available, he was cut to size,” the tweet continued. Will Singh Deo now be positioned as the CM’s face given that Baghel is being held accountable for significant corruption and has become a liability? Malviya inquired as well.

Sanjeev Jha, the AAP’s representative for Chhattisgarh, commented on the event, claiming that the Congress has acknowledged that the people of Chhattisgarh do not trust Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel by choosing to choose Singh Deo as deputy chief minister ahead of the state assembly elections. It’s a damage control effort by the Congress high command, but Jha told PTI that it won’t assist the party in the state since Bhupesh Baghel, the state’s chief minister, has caused a lot of damages to the populace by stealing its resources.

The AAP leader requested that the Congress make it clear who would represent the party in the next assembly elections as their chief ministerial candidate. “The party’s position on this has not been approved by the Congress high leadership. If Singh Deo will serve as the party’s face and if Baghel is no longer trusted, they should make their position known. People and Congress employees alike are perplexed by this problem, Jha said.

Arun Sao, the head of the BJP’s chapter in Chhattisgarh, said on Wednesday that Singh Deo’s appointment as deputy chief minister at the conclusion of the current administration was unfair to him and that it would not prevent the Congress from losing the next assembly elections. “Singh Deo has been appointed deputy chief minister when the time comes to finish the term. This is unfair to Singh Deo, who was accused, and demeaning to the Sarguja people.

The Congress is a ship that is sinking. The Congress will not benefit anything from such choices. The people of Chhattisgarh have chosen to overthrow the Congress administration. He said, “Congress will not succeed in Chhattisgarh.” Sigh Deo’s appointment by the Congress as deputy chief minister before of the assembly elections, according to senior BJP leaders and former Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh, would have far-reaching effects. With this choice, the Congress has conceded that elections in Chhattisgarh won’t be held under Bhupesh Baghel’s direction.
