Calling the PM in Delhi, HP CM Sukhu requests financial support

Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday to inform him of the losses the hill state had suffered as a result of the severe downpour.

The chief minister told Modi that the recent period of excessive rain caused the state to incur significant losses, according to a statement released today. According to him, there has been significant damage to both public and private property as well as the destruction of highways, connecting roads, irrigation, power, and water supply networks.

 

Sukhu also informed the prime minister of the flood-related damages suffered by the Larji project in the state and asked for quick funding from the Center for relief and rehabilitation efforts.

 

According to the statement, after listening to Sukhu, the prime minister informed him that a team from the federal government had been dispatched to Himachal to inspect the flood damage and that money will be distributed once the team submitted its report.

 

According to the statement, Prime Minister Modi also pledged to provide the state all help he could muster. Sukhu met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday and asked for a Rs 2,000 crore emergency aid.
