Case Against Son of DMK Leader for Abuse of Eighteen-Year-Old Housekeeper

Chennai: The DMK leader Karunanidhi’s son and daughter-in-law are the targets of a complaint brought by the Chennai Police for allegedly torturing an 18-year-old employee who worked at their house. A police official informed NDTV that they had not been able to see the girl and refused to provide any other facts about the case.

“The girl is not available for us to meet. Someone is protecting her. We’re not sure why. Soon, everything would become evident,” the officer said.

The girl was getting ready for the National Entrance Examination (NET) and is a member of a scheduled caste. She was employed as a housekeeper in order to qualify for NEET coaching.

According to the police, she had spent the previous year working at the son of the DMK leader. According to reports, she suffered burns from cigarettes and bruises, leading doctors to believe that she had been severely up.

“After the young woman was brought to a hospital in Ulundurpet for treatment, the staff there called the closest police station. In order to file a case, we are attempting to talk with her. She is unreachable, as is the family. An Neelangarai Police Station official told NDTV, “We feel they are trying to avoid.”

Regarding claims of burns from cigarettes, the officer said, “Injuries are old, according to doctors.” We won’t know the truth until after an inquiry.”

Kathir, the nonprofit’s executive director of evidence, has demanded a rigorous inquiry into the situation and punitive measures against the pair.

Allegations made against Karunanidhi have been refuted and described as “politically motivated”.
