Case Pantheerankavu: Accused faces murder bid charge

The police ultimately filed murder-attempt charges against the accused Rahul P Gopal, 29, a German engineer, when the complainant’s family claimed that the police in the Pantheerankavu domestic abuse case had not invoked significant provisions. The investigation into the domestic abuse matter has been taken over by Feroke ACP, and ACP Saju K Abraham will document the complainant’s testimony.

After criticism that the Pantheerankavu police treated the matter lightly when the newlywed woman’s family arrived to file a complaint, the case has now been sent over to the ACP. Pantheerankavu station house officer (SHO) Sarin A S was suspended by North Zone IG K Sethuraman for failing to act promptly upon the victim’s allegation. “Despite seeing evidence of physical abuse on the victim’s body, the SHO neglected to include the relevant provisions of the IPC in the case. Additionally, he did not promptly apprehend the accused. In order to prevent future instances of police personnel making mistakes of this kind, the department disciplined the SHO, according to IG Sethuraman.

Accused previously wed a Poonjar native.

Meanwhile, the accused Rahul P Gopal married another lady and registered the marriage in Poonjar, according to the Pantheerankavu police’s investigation.

The complainant’s family said on Wednesday that they are unable to go to Kozhikode in order to record the statement. Thus, the police would go to Ernakulam to document the complainant’s account. The accused has been charged under the Indian Penal Code’s Section 307 (Attempt to Murder). Rahul, the accused, was previously engaged to a lady in Poonjar, Kottayam district, and their marriage was recorded in their Kottayam panchayat just before they departed for overseas, according to the police inquiry that has been completed so far.

We are investigating further and will provide confirmation later. The defendant is running away. Since there is a possibility that the accused may flee to the Gulf, we are actively looking for him, Feroke ACP Saju K. Abraham said. Rahul won’t be able to go overseas because to a lookout warning that the police have sent to the Home Ministry. Police authorities had earlier claimed on many occasions that the accused was being watched until Wednesday, but they subsequently acknowledged that he was evading them and that there was a possibility he might leave overseas.

Three months ago, Rahul got engaged to a dentist from Poonjar in this location’s Sree Lakshmi Auditorium. Afterwards, the bride’s family canceled the marriage ceremony that was scheduled for May. The bride said that Rahul had been emotionally abusing and dominating her, according to Geetha Noble, a Poonjar Panchayat ward member and neighbor.

Rahul’s sister, meanwhile, attested to the fact that he had legally wed a Poonjar native.

Since Rahul intended to take the girl with him to his place of employment overseas, the marriage was pre-registered. In April, the wife left the marriage. The girl’s parents said that she want to pursue further education even though they rejected the suggestion. Rahul does, in fact, give his family a bit more thought. But some claims are untrue, according to Rahul’s sister.

On May 5, the complainant, a lady from North Paravur, and the accused Rahul tied the knot at Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple. Days after their marriage, Rahul battered and strangled the plaintiff with a cell phone charging cable. The woman’s relatives learned about the tragedy on May 12 when they arrived at Rahul’s Pantheerankavu home for a ceremony.

Afterwards, the relatives of the lady complained to the Pantheerankavu police. On Tuesday, however, the bride’s family complained to the chief minister, claiming that the police had not been diligent in opening the inquiry. “We are pleased that our efforts paid off. But when we went to register the complaint, the accused could have been taken into custody by the police. The complainant’s father, Haridas, said, “The police gave the accused enough time to escape.”

In the meanwhile, the Pantheerankavu SHO was sued suo motu by the Kerala State Human Rights Commission for late filing of a complaint. The commission’s judicial member and acting chair, K Byjunath, ordered the Kozhikode municipal police commissioner to carry out a thorough inquiry and provide a report in a timely manner—no later than 15 days.

At its June meeting in Kozhikode, the commission will discuss the matter. P Satheedevi, the head of the Kerala Women’s Commission, chastised the police for their lack of response to the event.

SHO was put on hold.

Sarin A. S., the station house officer (SHO) at Pantheerankavu, has been suspended for failing to take immediate action.

Due to the SHO’s late submission of a case, the Kerala State Human Rights Commission has brought a suo motu complaint against them.

Panel requests that the commissioner of Kozhikode City Police undertake a thorough investigation and provide a report in 15 days.

Police acknowledge that Rahul is evading capture and that there was a possibility he may have fled overseas.
