CBI searches two TMC leaders’ homes in relation to a 2021 case of post-election violence

In connection with its continuing probe into the death of a BJP worker in post-election violence in 2021, the CBI conducted searches at the homes of two Trinamool Congress politicians on Friday in Kathi in the Purba Medinipur district of West Bengal, according to an officer.

In the early hours of Friday, a group of CBI officials conducted a search on the homes of TMC leader Debabrata Panda of Kathi Block number 3 and another block president, Nandadulal Maiti, as part of their continuing inquiry, he added.

“Panda, Nandadulal’s son and 52 others have been named in the FIR lodged in connection with the murder of Janmejay Dolui,” the official told PTI.

Dolui was a BJP employee who was murdered in the aftermath of the 2021 assembly election.

Thirty persons were called for interrogation in relation to the case, according to the CBI official, but none of them showed up.

“We are carrying out raids at locations connected to these individuals. We must ask them questions,” he said.
